Movies, movies, movies

I’ve been a bit pre-occupied with my deck and trying to enjoy some free time. But I need to see some movies.
Before I forget them, here’s my list:
Batman: The Dark Knight
Tropic Thunder
Burn After Reading
Ghost Town
Crank
Movies I have totally missed:
Lars and the Real Girl
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
The Incredibles
Ratatouille
Little Miss Sunshine
Recent Goodies I HAVE seen:
WALL-E (I’m in LOVE with this robot - completely)
The Bank Job
Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day
Wicked Viewer

I’ve been using this graphics viewer for a while and it’s fantastic. It’s IrfanView. The thing that really impressed me was when I double-clicked on a PSD, it quickly opened up and showed me what the PSD looked like. That could be fairly annoying but I like it because I don’t always want to go through the whole riggermaroll of opening up PS. Heavy PS users will probably scream ‘Insanity!’.
It also opens up flash movies easily which is nice too.
Obviously, you can have all sorts of tools already on your machine that do all of these things but this is free and it does it all in one place.
My one complaint - the icons available for the program are pretty weird.

Am I the only one who finds the fact that this book exists disturbing:
Nail clipping

I used to work with someone who clipped their nails at work and another co-worker went borderline insane about it every time he heard it. He couldn’t stand the noise - like finger nails on a chalkboard. I soon began to wonder if it was a universal peeve that anyone could have, so I cautiously did not clip my nails at work for some time.
Today was different, however. My nails really needed it. So after I clipped a few, I checked with a co-worker to see if it was irking him. He said “No”. Phew. I then proceeded to tell him exactly why I had to clip them at work (something about only having a toe nail clipper at home and not liking to mix hands with feet) after which I complained about not being able to pick my nose for three days with nails so short.
My conclusion after that comment was this:
My life is an open book that most people would rather not read…so I read it to them. I’m a giver.
The neverending deck

What week is it now? Six? Yeah, that seems about right. How many more weeks? I’ll be conservative and say three. I’m learning the truth behind tip #2. So far 99% of the decking is down and 80% of the posts for the railing are up. We still need to add in the part of the deck that is by the door, some stairs, the horizontal pieces of the railing, and then the 9,000 or so vertical pieces to help retarded children avoid getting their heads caught when they start to do retarded things. On a good note, the railing will be made of 2 x 6 and therefore ample enough to hold any beer.

It all began after some drinks in my backyard towards the end of a visit from Mom & Bill. After all the work that has happened in the last three weeks, I am struggling to even remember what that original visit was for… Read the rest of this entry »

I bought a little digital recorder with all sorts of plans for using it as a little task reminder, but even more exciting - using it for my ESL class!
