I’ll admit my first excuse is, I’ve been busy. Busy or maybe “lazy”, if you will. The real culprit is… my fucking camera. Well, cameras. I have a pretty nice Pentax ist D. For all the money I paid for it, I don’t use it nearly enough - a running theme in my life. My biggest impediment - ridiculouly shitty battery life. Can’t tell if it is the batteries or the camera.

Anywhoo, I have a spare digital monstrocity that is about the size of a chalkboard eraser - the old bulky kind. It does a decent enough job for blog worthy pictures but it uses SmarMedia and my SmartMedia reader is circa 2000, at the latest. Needless to say, not Mac-tastic. So even though I have this passable camera with decent battery life, I have no easy way to get the pictures off of it.

Pictures I have taken but not posted:

  • before and after shots when I finally cleaned the office up (it’s a mess again)
  • Big Boy on an adventure outside where he cowered in the face of the vast expanse of freedom
  • my wonderful bloom-erific yard
  • my cats being forced to wear a bib as a cape for a company email
  • my fridge after removing all things rotten, revealing the only remaining items to be beer that I keep on hand for other people, some soda, some water, some butter, and a small thing of milk
  • the contents of my most recent shopping trip as an indicator of the day I was having - Stayfree Maxi Pads and small cupcakes

So, I either need better batteries for the ist D which is kind of a bulky digital SLR, a SmartMedia card reader, or a new, more compact, higher quality point and shoot that uses secure digital. We’ll pretend I don’t look for excuses to buy electronics.

Already on my list are

  • a digital voice recorder, and
  • a programmable remote so that Sora can turn on the TV

I’m also looking for a PC. There, I said it. There are just some things that I need a PC for. Quicken, Quickbooks, playing AOE online, and using my Adobe Suite - just to name a few. We have a few salvaged laptops at work that might go for sale. We’ll see. I’d prefer a desktop since I will one day have an office in this shanty of a house.

Have I mentioned that I am in posession of THREE desks at the moment and currently have two somewhat in use? That seems ill advised. They aren’t really desks, just gigantic “IN” boxes, or waiting rooms before a vast nothingness. Oh sad, useless paper.

I also kind of, sort of, said ‘yes” to a neighbor when he asked if I wanted another cat. I don’t want another cat. I want another toy that I can give back. It’s quite the numbskull decision considering that I may, in fact, be allergic to them and thus my inability to sleep for about three years now. I JUST figured this out. “Hmm… I feel exhausted when my sinuses are clogged. My sinuses have been clogged since… I got my first cat… Hmm… that must mean… Oy… “. Claritin, you’re failing me.

So what will I do? I guess you’ll have to stay tuned for any pictures of a third cat. Lord help me. My plan is to take it and then find it a good home. Sora gives 3:1 odds that I will keep it. You can place your bets at lickmyballs.com. (If that exists, don’t go there.)

Tomorrow we’re beginning building a deck in my backyard to basically cover the backyard. It’s too uneven and unusable. AND I hate maintaining it. I’ll take more pictures that I won’t post.

Besides that, my job rocks and Sora rocks. My cats rock. My hair totally rocks (short 60’s bob - very sexy and reddish now) My body, not so much rockage. I need to stop pounding the cupcakes. Car - I am using a looped cable tie to open my driver’s side door. Both cool and ridiculous. I’m also working at the shop again getting all covered in grease and dirt. All in all, life’s going pretty well (Enter sounds of threatening thunder). As you can see, I have no irrational fears.
