[Old co-worker]: I’m asp dot netting the hell out of my new application
[JBot]: Niiiice
[JBot]: I say, use lots of pointers. Pointers are job security
[Old co-worker]: Ha
[Old co-worker]: Anything in .net is job security at this point
[JBot]: “So what you’re saying is that I just spent the last week finding out that x=1?”
[Old co-worker]: Haha

Today I am old…again

At lunch, we were talking about our current office space and well, the lack of it. I heard someone mention that one of the offices was currently being used by some people from an outside company. So I said:

“I was wondering who those kids were running around.”

At least it made other people feel less old as I began to feel more so resigned to my age.

I’m in that in between time when being old serves no useful purpose. When you’re, say, forty you can claim wisdom or experience or clarity—regardless of whether it’s true or not. In your “late twenties” you’re simply—not young. That’s it.

My Naruto self

I’ve slowly become enamored with Naruto and after last week’s episodes, I’ve decided which character I would be, given the opportunity.

But first… some quizzes that try to answer that very question.

Here’s a funny one.

I quizzed out to be Neji:

Proud. Driven. You fix on your objective and stick to it. Some people may see you as cold or even cruel, but they just can’t see past your prickly surface. At heart, you care about your companions and may be a little more sensitive than you’d like to admit.

For a twist, find out which evil character you would be.

I quizzed out as Yakushi Kabuto:

Your results are in! The adopted son of the leader of Konoha’s medical squad, you are far stronger than what you let others believe. You pretended to be a friend but betrayed Konoha’s kindness. A traitor at birth and a spy of the Sound, you are the treacherous Yakushi Kabuto.

In real life you are probably a pharmacist. You love healing and the art of medicine. If you are not selling prescription medication, you will be a doctor. Standing behind the counter dispensing prescription is your calling. You might even be the inventor of Viagra or Levitra.

Now, who do I think I would be?

Well, it’s more of a want since I have some pretty glaring differences in real life.

I would be: Hinata Hyuga

Why? She’s teeny but powerful, a bit Small Wonder-ish, with a pretty fine rack for an obvious nine-year-old. It just feels so right.

75 years old and eerily relevant

I am by no means even remotely knowledgeable about all of the vast workings of any large economic system, but I still have my own ideas about them—my own broad ideas.

What did Lily Tomlin once say… “Reality is nothing but a collective hunch”. Well, I feel the very same way about the economy… and strangely, I’m not the first.

After all there is an element in the readjustment of our financial system more important than currency, more important than gold, and that is the confidence of the people. Confidence and courage are the essentials of success in carrying out our plan. You people must have faith; you must not be stampeded by rumors or guesses. Let us unite in banishing fear. We have provided the machinery to restore our financial system; it is up to you to support and make it work.

It is your problem no less than it is mine. Together we cannot fail.

A GREAT site if you can’t get to the exhibition yourself. I may do both.
