If you haven’t heard, and most of you have, I’m currently unemployed. Under the guise of a mercy killing I was “let go” from my job. I’m thrilled to be free of that completely dysfunctional environment, but no one likes to be let go. “No no, it’s not you, it’s us.”

As I am looking through the job listings, a few things have become clear. The job of Analyst (any kind other than financial) means “Big name for a job that could be anything, and be it at entry level”. The job of Coordinator it seems, can often mean “Office Manager” or “Administrative Assistant”. Why don’t they just say that? I guess I am a Coordinator. I coordinate the feedings of my cats. (Have I told you that my current home-based office staff is a bunch of pussies?)

The process of looking for a job is, as always, both painful and unpleasant, punctuated by moments of shear agony. This market isn’t helping either. But being unemployed gives me the “luxury” of not having to set my sights so high. I can try new things that only barely pay my mortgage and not feel like I’m missing out because, in fact, there’s nothing to miss.

PMA - Positive Mental Attitude. That’s from a banner in my 7th grade Science Class. Mr. Palowski I think? Well, Mr. Palowski, I’m trying.
