CoinStar spoils
Posted on October 8th, 2007 in Home Life, Work Life |
After settling into my unemployment only vaguely, I decided to turn in the ol’ change bucket and see what my years of throwing coinage into it had gotten me. Turns out, it was quite a bit.
Now, CoinStar isn’t free. It pains me, but what can you do? They charge you 8.9% for every dollar. Not thrilling, but fine. I don’t have to roll my change and the process took under 10 minutes so I suppose, somehow, it’s worth it.
What did I end up pocketing after this whole adventure?
$171.18
Boo-yah bitches!
I WAS going to give you the breakdown of what my change consisted of, but the Stop & Shop cashier had to keep the slip. Dammit. If only I’d known…. Needless to say, there were over 1000 pennies.
Not everything was accepted, however, and this is what I was left with:
15 Big Y Supermarket coins
Canadian:
1 dollar coin
6 quarters
5 dimes
1 nickel
Irish:
5 pense
American:
1 quarter
2 dimes
1 penny
I really got stiffed with the Canadian money, but it’s worth more than the dollar at this point, so maybe I’ll find some lowly currency exchange and get my few dollars—AMERICAN dollars.
