College Essay

I wish I had been so bold…

3A. ESSAY: IN ORDER FOR THE ADMISSIONS STAFF OF OUR COLLEGE TO GET TO KNOW YOU, THE APPLICANT, BETTER, WE ASK THAT YOU ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: ARE THERE ANY SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD, OR ACCOMPLISHMENTS YOU HAVE REALIZED, THAT HAVE HELPED TO DEFINE YOU AS A PERSON?

I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently. Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row…

The one whom we call Brenda, because that is her name, liked very much this away message of mine:

The world is my oyster… or well, it smells that way

As far as I know, it’s original.

Techno Hobo

Maybe I’m behind on my acronyms but here is a site:

http://www.hobocentral.net/

It’s a site for utilizing Ruby on Rails - the programming architecture.

I’d have to actually read to tell you more about it, but here are my three favorite quotes from the site:

See how easy it is to create full blown web applications using the power of Hobo.

Hmm, the power of Hobo. Well, the code wouldn’t be clean. There’s one power. It probably wouldn’t be very efficient either. But it would be tough. Tough code with a shiv to back it up.

Download the latest Hobo release and grab the Hobo Mini-Manual to get started.

I’m 100% sure that I want 0% to do with any releases from a Hobo and a manual tends to suggest some diagrams that I also have zero desire to see.

Download from our growing list of Hobo demos and go hands on with DRYML code.

Hands on…?

Well, I’m glad the Hobo is getting a shot at some fame and prosperity. It’s a step up from boxcar fights.

Why I’ll never have a roomate

This post has been sitting around for a while but anyway, while thinking about what it’s like to live in an apartment that is entirely mine, the following thought came to mind:

One good thing about living alone… when I clog the toilet, I don’t have to explain it to anyone.

Then, as I continued to think, some other benefits came to mind.

  • Also, there is the luxury that no one REALLY knows how many times I have worn the same pair of pants before washing them.
  • The level of cleanlinesss of my dishes need not be impeccable.
  • Laundry CAN consist of socks and underwear only.

I think these all still hold true for living in your own house, as well.

The Marshalls

Today I am partaking in some retail therapy. I probably don’t have the money to do it… or do I? I DID just get my monthly lil’ sales bonus that usually goes into my house fund, but since I have already secured the money to buy the house, maybe it could go into my clothes fund? I like the way you think.

It’s either clothes shopping or spending the day eating crap, watching HGTV, and thinking. So, technically the healthier decision is clothing. No calories, no carbs and all the dark, but perhaps not leafy, greens that I could want. I’m rewarding myself for getting out of bed this morning. I’m “moving along”. Some days, that’s about all anyone can do.

Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you’ve had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day when you’ve lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold

Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)

When everything is wrong, we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along

When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along

Goddamn it man

Who is Vincent Price? Seriously? God it hurts me to talk to today’s youth - especially when they’re only 3 years younger than I am.

For those of you who don’t know who he is, first, cower in shame. Second, know that he was, and forever will be, the quintessential horror film star AND, more importantly, voice. He was and IS horror. And not the utter shit that they churn out today. Today’s movies are not horror films - the are gorey monstrocities that only highlight the psychosis growing in today’s society.

Some useful links:

A little Wikipedia for you
Some Find-A-Grave for you

If you’re in a traveling mood, the Witch’s Dungeon Movie Museum located in Bristol, Connecticut features detailed life-size wax replicas of characters from some of Price’s films, including The Fly, The Abominable Dr. Phibes and The Masque of the Red Death

I’ve been to this museum and well, don’t go around Halloween or you’ll wait in line for 3 hours for a five minute trip through a teeny building. Oh that hurt AND I had to pee.

Finally, if you still think you’ve never heard of him and were born after 1981 - we ALL know you saw the Micheal Jackson video “Thriller” that Price narrated or Edward Scissorhands where he played Edward’s inventor.

For those of you a little older, and hopefully a little wiser, he also played Egghead on the original Batman series.

Most importantly, though, he starred in or narrated an astonishing number or early horror films - which, of course, would be his greatest contribution.

Is your car gay?

Posted on March 16th, 2007 in Daily Life | No Comments »

Alright, more precisely, is it gay friendly?

Well, whether you want to know which car companies are gay friendly or why the ladies are giving you the stink eye as you step out of your Rav, here is a site to clear up all of the confusion, or highlight it maybe.

http://www.gaywheels.com/

Yes, it IS called GayWheels.com. So, if you drive, AND you’re gay, here’s a site for you.

I already put the cabash on my buying anything Subaru but maybe I’ll look into some of the not-so-gay-friendly companies and not contribute to their bottom lines. It all comes down to that purse (man or otherwise) string.

The lost Mouseketeer™

Presenting Anonymouse™ - the lost Mouseketeer™.

Apparently, after all of these years, after Annette, after Britney, after Justin, there was Anonymouse™.

I’m not sure what role Anonymouse™ had on the Mickey Mouse Club but I am sure it was a profound and yet highly underrated one.

I learned about this mythical figure from a site on Shoji screens (http://www.shojiscreen.com/). It says that I should

Step Out Of the Usual World of Anonymouse Living

I’m guessing “Anonymouse Living” is pretty cramped and desperate..
